Candace is delighted to be working with Everald Compton OA on the launch of his latest and 5th book - Walking with The Man, but not to Church, in collaboration with Clark & Mackay publishers
Walking with The Man, but not to Church
Author - Everald Compton, OA
Book release date: 22nd November 2024
This new book is a personal account of Everald’s journey towards understanding and embracing Jesus as a role model, a human - "The Man" rather than focusing on the traditional Christian dogma of being saved from sins to enter heaven and belief in a mythical God.
Through his lifelong study of religion and involvement in the church, including as a lay preacher, a founding member of the Uniting Church in Australia … he has come to the conclusion that “the existence and gender of God has not been proven” and that the mythical nature of many Christian beliefs is what turns many Australians away from the Church system.
In addition to his leadership role in the Uniting Church, Compton chairs a private company establishing the modern inland freight railway line from Gladstone to Goondiwindi, he was the founding CEO of Brisbane’s St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital and joint leader of the movement that achieved the passing of Voluntary Assisted Dying legislation in Queensland.
Everald is a two time Order of Australia recipient who at 93, has dedicated his life to the Vision and Politics of Nation Building and is a regular political commentator - so much so that he has many high-profile twitter followers, including the Prime Minister of Australia.
